Dinner in Catania, Sicily

Hello fello travelers,

We will be in Catania in a couple of weeks for three nights before heading to Rome. One day we are taking the Go Etna Full Day Jeep Tour of Etna, and will return to Catania at 430-5pm, surely tired and would love a suggestion for a casual, local restaurant for this night. Would also appreciate recommendations for the other two nights - one higher end and one seafood focused. We are interested in spots geared towards locals. Love all foods, no restrictions.

We will probably visit the popular spots near the fish market during the day, so are looking for dinner suggestions.

These are ones I've saved on my list, but not married to them: Trattoria Alsdo, Locando Cerami, Ristorante da Antonio, La Quinte Pizza.

Thank you!

I've not heard of any on your list, but we loved the seafood at LE TRE BOCCHE. No foreigners when we ate there last fall.

SAPIO is a higher-end restaurant that some consider the best in the city.

ME CUMPARI TURRIDDU is a low-key place with good local fare and a nice atmosphere..

May last year stayed at an agriturismo just southeast of Catania. The owners suggested this place. https://trattoriaanticocortile.com/

Close by the Massimo Bellini Theatre which featured the opera Norma by Vincenzo Bellini.

Went for dinner. We all enjoyed the seafood. Made a pasta and meatballs dish for my two grandchildren. Struck up a rapport with the young waiter. Selected a nice white wine from Mt Etna for us.

Afterward as night fell, wandered around the alleys and streets. Got gelato on a couple of occasions. Came across the Amphitheatre of Catania that is partly exposed along Corso Sicilia, which was a pleasant surprise. A few locals who overheard our conversations asked where we were from. Never felt intimidated.

We had two Citroen leased cars with pink French number plates. Parked on the street parking with no problems.
