Dinner before Opera in Verona

We have tickets to see Turandot in Verona this June, which starts at 21:30. For those of you have been to the Opera Festival in Verona before: I presume a lot of people have a 7 p.m. dinner at a nearby restaurant. Is this the case (given the size of the Arena I would expect everything to be jam packed at that hour) or am I missing something else obvious? I also presume the after show options are very limited or nonexistent.

There are many, many restaurants within walking distance of the arena to servic the crowds. Unfortunately, it’s been too long since I was there to recommend a specific one, but if you wander about earlier in the day, or read some reviews, I am sure you can reserve something suitable.

As far as afterwards, everything is open and people were on the streets for laughing, talking, drinking and eating for two hours afterwards. Being Italian newbies at the time, we were surprised. We saw Aida, which didn’t finish until 1 am, but the Italians were happy to be out for a long time yet.
