Dining in Florence

Would like a recommendation for a nice restaurant in Florence Italy. Nice means delicious food other than Pizza. Don't mind paying 25€ but nothing too fancy.

A couple of us here liked Ciro and Sons, near Basilica San Lorenzo

Via del Giglio, 28, 50123 Firenze FI, Italy

We had a very nice meal at Francesco Vini, near Santa Croce

You can manage how much you want to spend by limiting the number of courses or sharing a starter or dessert. I assume you mean 25€ per person?

Ristorante del Fagioli won't disappoint. Many first and second course combinations or either a first or second course with a side dish would fit your budget. If you're a couple, sharing a first course and side dish and then ordering your own second courses would also fit. I've factored bottled water and a glass of house wine into the 25 euro budget. Main courses like Bistecca alla Fiorentina would blow your budget, but that would happen anywhere you went. Note that you should reserve no later than 1:00pm for the 7:30 dinner sitting that night (second sitting starts around 9:20) and that the restaurant is only open for lunch and dinner Monday-Friday (no weekends). Edit: Del Fagioli is closed in August, as are many of my favorite restaurants in Florence.

I’ve got some fancier/pricier favorites, too, but in the Oltrarno neighborhood, west of the Arno River, dine at Al Tranvai, adjacent to Piazza Torquato Tasso.

We stumbled upon Trattoria San Lorenzo after our after hours tour of the Accademia and it was a fabulous experience! The food was excellent! Everything we ate was delicious! Their lasagna, white beans w/ rosemary, and the marscapone w/ pears for dessert were my favorites.

Cimatori Trenta Osteria on Dei Cimatori

Place is delicious! All food was great and the waiters are wonderful and extremely friendly. It's on a quiet street but close to all the action of Firenze. Also, Vivoli for gelato is a must! It was delicious!

Trattoria Il Sostanza is not to be missed--the chicken dish is fantastic. Reservations are a must as it is very small--the restaurant has been run by the same family for years. It is located on a small street in the area between the Arno and Santa Maria Novello.

You don't mention when you are traveling but during nice weather, especially when the days are shorter, it's worth at least one dinner outside on Piazza del Duomo even if the food doesn't justify the higher prices. Dining with a view of the Duomo all awash in lights is something you'll remember for a long long time.

Sasso di Dante, tucked behind a row of buildings surrounding the Piazza del Duomo (and without a view) is a real gem. The Tagliata con Rucola is always a hit as is their gnocchi.

Trattoria Lo Stracotto, next to the Medici Chapel was also a real delight.

I liked Ciro and Sons so much I ate there several times in the 3 days I was there. Just thinking about the ravioli with pear has me drooling! I'm not a foodie but the food was excellent in Florence.

I really recommend “The Golden View”. The restaurant overlooks the Ponte Vecchio. You will need reservations unless you plan on eating around 6:00 pm. They have a website you can access.

Osteria Pepo which is not far from Duomo was a RS rec and one of our family faves. More of a bistro feel and a welcome change from the usual westernized pizza places. Also anything in Oltrarno area.
