Dining before Friday night Vatican visit

My wife are coming to Rome on 5/4 and have booked online the Vatican for this Friday night. Does anyone know of any restaurants near the Vatican that are open at 18:00(6:00PM) early before our scheduled booking time of 19:30? Please advise. Regards,Ross

Ross, I wouldn't eat near the Vatican. It's most touristy places that have just okay food and are a little expensive. I would walk a few blocks away and look for menus in Italian and not several languages. This is where you'll find the best food. Donna

We had a great meal at Pizzarium before our Vatican evening visit. Amazing selection of pizza by the slice. But there are only a few stools and a couple of benches outside on the sidewalk - no traditional sit down dinner.

Not right near the Vatican be definitely within walking distance is Trattoria Lilli (Via di Tor di Nona, 23). 10-15mintue stroll to Vatican City. Check the trip advisor reviews.

I never saw a restaurant open for dinner before 18:30. However, there are plenty of sandwich places and little cafes that stay open all day.

Try Piacere Molise, Via Candia 60.... cell 366 8024616
It's about three blocks (at most) from the Museum entrance, and I always stay in that neighborhood, and the food is awesome, but they don't speak much English! I know I've eaten there many times at 7pm, but not sure how much earlier they open. Try to get an Italian to make the phone call for you..........It's on the "non-touristy" side of the Vatican in a residential neighborhood behind the Alimandi hotels. www.piaceremolise.net If they have the ravioli with porcini mushroom in a brown butter sage sauce, or the gnocci.........lucky you!!!

I enjoyed Ristorante Tre Pupazzi. 0.6 miles, 13 minute walk to the Vatican Museum according to Googlemaps.
