I have tried unsuccessfully to get tickets for the Vatican on the online site. Each time it says operation not completed. I have used several credit cards, called the credit card company in advance, shut off the pop up blocker on my computer. Any suggestions.
It is very frustrating. See my posts on Visa Verification on the Vatican. I have posted the number to call. The verification is with VISA, not your issue bank. I had to be online with Visa Verification to have the charge go through. Now, Tickets in hand!

I am also having this problem tonight. The phone number posted is for Chase. I called Bank of Americaand they said it was on the Vatican side. They cannot see any communication with the Vatican and BofA has not denied anything.
interesting. I just read the posts and my card does not say visa verified.
I apologize. I looked up BOA site regarding Visa Verification. I just called the Chase number given and it was the fraud and security center. The rep stated when a merchant (Vatican) is using Visa Verification online it is added security and an agreement for the Merchant and Visa. Chase's normal customer service reps can not process Visa Verification, only the fraud and security center can do this at Chase.
I would recommend a gentle push of BOA service rep to transfer you to an expert in the additional security Visa Verification. When working with Chase reps after multiple calls it was the experienced rep who transferred me. Have you noticed that after multiple calls it is then that we get the expert.
We were in Rome a few days ago and also had this problem. Our Charles Schwab Visa card which we use when we travel internationally because there are no transaction fees did not work. After many failed attempts, we tried our local credit union Visa card which did work, and we realized it was because it uses Verified by Visa which our Schwab card does not.
A couple of months ago I had the same problem purchasing Vatican tickets with my BofA card. I called BofA and after a long time on hold and conversations with several representatives about the issue I was finally transferred to the Verified by Visa Department. The first thing I asked for was their direct phone number, then assistance with the transaction. I was able to complete the transaction while I was on the phone with the Verified by Visa representative and it went through without a problem. Here's BofA's Verified by Visa number: 877-388-6581
Call your credit card company and have them enact the "verified by visa" protocol. This is the security measure the Vatican museums is using and will reject cards without it. You must speak to a "verified" rep in order to have this protocol enacted.

Donna: Asking for Visa Verification is not enough. An expect for you CC has to approve Visa Verification. I have learned every card has a telephone number and an expert. Visa Verification procedures and policies are not that simple for every card holder.
