Different power adapters Naples v Ischia - Procida and Positano are next - one day to shop - help

Hello, my husband is in Ischia now and was previously in Naples. He has brought along an e/f type of adapter. This did not work at all in the hotel in Naples, but maybe because it was a pretty old hotel? In Ischia his adapter works in one outlet but not the other five in the room.

The adapter he has is an e/f type. Does anyone know if this will work in Procida or Positano hotels? I have time to get one today before I leave for Italy tomorrow.

Thanks

I took the e/f last time that I was in Italy because I read "oh, they are prevalent all over Europe, and Italy just has both" (speaking of the L type). It didn't fare well for me, as it seemed like everywhere I went, they only had one e/f plug (good thing we had a power strip!). I am going to bring an adapter with both types and usb ports in them this month. (yay! I can finally say THIS MONTH!! April 26th!!)

The most common adaptor is for a type C plug. If he’s in a tourist area, ask at the hotel where he can find a shop at which he can purchase one. I had no problem finding one in Rome.

If there’s a travel or luggage store near you, you should easily pick one up. Or just head to Target.

///I can't for the life of me see the difference between an c and an e or f adapter

Yes, both the pin diameter and the pin distances are different. C was the postwar Italian standard, but with tourism and the EU, newer hotels in Italy often have plenty of Shuco or e/f. Alas, that means that different travelers can have different experiences. I'll bet Capri has a lot of Shucos because of high-ticket tourism from the Continent. (Haven't slept on Capri.)

We had a very modern hotel in Sorrento, which had Shuco, I don't remember if there were a few e/f for elderly native customers.

Thank you all very much. I am heading to target tomorrow just in the kick of time. Yes, the prongs need to be wider that they are on the E/F to fit the outlet. You learn something new every day, just glad I learned today and not tomorrow!

And if the one you take along doesn't work, people have had good luck borrowing one from the hotel's lost-and-found stash.
