I see on the Vatican website that the Holy Father will be having Angelus on August 15th (Wednesday) and it does not list a General Audience. Can anyone tell me the difference and whether there is a difference in how to obtain tickets? Grazie!
The General Audience is held in St. Peter's Square. It is sometimes, depending on weather, held indoors in the Paul VI Hall. Tickets are required for seating. Event starts around 9.30 A.M., with the arrival of the Pope, and ends around 11.00 A.M.
For the Angelus at Noon, the Pope is in a window of the Papal Apartments high up at the north end of St. Peter's Square. The event starts at 12.00 and lasts about 20 minutes. The Pope speaks in Italian about the Sunday Gospel reading, says the Angelus prayer and follows with some words and greetings.
If you are thinking of entering St. Peter's Basilica afterwards it may be a good idea to be at the north end of the Square as the security entrance is located there.
For the Angelus and General Audience there is a security check you have to pass through just to enter the Square.
