Difference between Italia Rail and Trenitalia

Hello Community

We arrive in Anacona via ferry and need to take the train from there to Venice.
Is there a difference between Italia Rail and Trenitalia train systems?

What is the preferred? I'm look for ease of travel and comfort--inexpensive would be nice but not a deal breaker.

Thanks
Judi

Trenitalia runs the track and the trains and sells tickets on their trains.

Italia Rail sells the Trenitalia tickets. Some North Americans find them easier (not me, I go to the source and have never had trouble - but I use a British credit card)

As Nigel said, one is the national train system (Trenitalia) and the other is just a ticket broker and not a rail service. A second system with high-speed trains to some of Italian cities is Italo but it doesn't service Ancona (be sure to use the correct spelling when searching options) so you'll be using Trenitalia trains to Venice.
