Difference between HelloVenezia Venice Card and VeneziaUnica City Pass

Hello all

I was looking for Museum and Church passes in Venice and I found the following 2 passes:

  1. HelloVenezia Venice Card : http://www.hellovenezia.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=71&Itemid=130&lang=en

  2. VeneziaUnica City Pass : http://www.veneziaunica.it/en/

I was planning to consider the Junior version of both the cards(around 30 euros) which would be lesser than the individual costs of destinations. Both the cards cover the same attractions and are equally priced. Can anybody help me understand, what is the difference between both these passes. Also which pass should I buy among the 2? Are they bought online or can be bought at Venice. I would be arriving from VCE airport.

Also one more question, will I be eligible for the Reduced ticket for Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries Tour with either of these passes?

Thank you
Abhinav

The Venezia Unica pass let's you pre-pay for transportation, public toilets, and other amenities, in addition to museums. You don't really need all these things to be bundled together. The Hello Venezia card is easy to buy at Venice airport (3 points), so I would not bother to buy online. It does offer a reduced entrance fee to the Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries Tour .

Here's some info from Rick Steves' Italy about separate Vaporetto Passes: You can buy a pass for unlimited use of vaporetti: €18/12 hours, €20/24 hours, €25/36 hours, €30/48 hours, €35/72 hours, €50/7-day pass. All passes must be validated each time you board by touching it to the small white machine on the dock. Because single tickets cost a hefty €7 a pop, these passes can pay for themselves in a hurry. The 48-hour pass pays for itself with five rides (for example: to your hotel, on a Grand Canal joyride, into the lagoon and back, and to the train station). On the other hand, many tourists just walk and rarely use a boat. Anyone under 30 years old can get a 72-hour pass for €18 if they also buy a Rolling Venice discount card for €4 (see page *TK). Passes are also valid on ACTV’s mainland buses, including bus #5 to the airport (but not the airport buses run by ATVO, a separate company) and bus #2 to Mestre. Passes should be for sale at the ACTV ticket desks and ticket machines in the airport.
