Difference between Gladiator's Entrance and Underground

Friends of ours highly recommended using The Roman Guy to do the Colosseum tour because they have access to the underground. I have since found a tour on the Civitatis Rome site that says "Colosseum Tour & Special Gladiator's Entrance." Is that the same as the underground? It says you have access to the Gladiator's Gate.

We're bringing our 11-year-old daughter who LOVES ancient history so would like to give her the best experience.

No, the Civitatis tour is not the same as the underground. It only accesses the the arena floor, the flat, semicircular platform shown in the ad's photo, and other general parts of the Colosseum. Tours which include the underground go below that level.

Civitatis is also just a 3rd-party seller of multi-country tours; there's no way to check reviews of the products. "The Roman Guy" is a direct provider, specializes in Italy, and is highly regarded among RS posters who've booked with them.

The "gladiator's entrance" is simply the gate they allow all guided tours to enter through instead of using the the gates where day tourists enter. It makes the process much faster but it's nothing "new" or "amazing", it's simply an entry point for all tour groups.
