I reserved a car for our portion of our trip through the hills. I chose a volkswagon diesel as it was the only car I was familiar with in the compact class. Now I am wondering if diesel is readily available in the Siena and Assisi area. ???
Absolutely.
Pretty much every where.
You'll find more deisel than gas. No problem!
Monte, be aware that there are two different types of diesel fuel available at the pumps--biodiesel and regular diesel. When you pick up the car, confirm whether to use biodiesel or regular diesel fuel. It will also most likely say which one to use on or by the gas cap. At the pumps, get to know which one is which. Putting the wrong one in could really mess up the engine. By the way, diesel VWs in Europe get awesome gas mileage. Have fun!
Diesel is available, cheaper and diesel cars get better mileage. I always choose diesel.
Unleaded gasoline is called.
Seza Piombo Benzina. Shortened to Just Seza Piombo.
Diesel is called
Gasolio.
Allot of the stations on the A roads are automated. And I've found that most of the clerks at these don't speak English. The automated stations take 5/10/20 Euro notes and thats how much fuel you'll get.
I almost made the mistake of putting diesel in the Gas Motorcycle I was riding. That would have been a very expensive mistake.
