I note that my Question of Sept. 14 "Travelling from Rome to Nursia (Norcia) Need help," is the only query on the page with "0" responses. Did I perhaps omit info people need to help me? I am hoping someone knows how to get from Rome to Norcia--to the Sacro Speco--on Oct. 6. We need to get there and back the same day. Train does not seem feasible, but perhaps I'm not looking at appropriate train info. Thanks, Ann
You didn't do anything wrong. You just asked a question that no one had an answer for you. Not all questions have answers. I have spent a lot of time in Italy and answer a lot of Italian question but have never heard of Norcia or have any idea where it is.
If you've already arranged for lodging in Rome, you could email the hotel and ask them if they know the answer to your question. Good luck.
Ann - try this website: http://tinyurl.com/4x8ghom Looks like you have to go by bus.
Wow - now I know where it is. Looks interesting. May have to put it on my schedule for the next trip. I played around with the bus schedule - not hopeful. No trains. Looks like a one day car rental could be the best option.
Thanks to everyone for trying to help with this. Will try bus--hopefully hotel can help arrange.
I do know that Norcia is known for their ham, sausage and wild boar. Have been to a number of places in Umbria but not Norcia. Good luck and buon viaggio!!
The other way to find out these sorts of things is to look for the website of a hotel located in Norcia, then go to their "How to get here" page. They will often tell you how to get there from the major cities, and will include train and bus info.

Italy then Norcia Italy Train to Spoleto then bus to Norcia via Spoletino bus Site also has popular things to do , hotels etc
Ann, The only way to reach Noricia from Rome is by bus. Take the bus from the Tiburtina train station. As far as returing to Rome the same day, the distance is 69 miles.
