DFW to MXP - transiting through LHR - COVID regulations

Hi there!

We are departing from Dallas, TX and we are transiting through LHR before we land in Italy. Has anyone taken this route before? Any regulations in place?

We are fully vaccinated and have our vaccine cards but are worried about any mandatory quarantines since we are passing through LHR. Any help would be appreciated!

You need a rapid test 48 hours before and must quarantine for 5 days, after which, you must take another Covid test, and ,if negative, you are free to roam around.

Change your flight to avoid the UK, and your CDC card will suffice. Actually I suggest to avoid layovers in third countries at this time, that way you deal with the regulations of only two countries (Italy and USA). I presume you are flying American. Change your flight and have a layover at JFK or PHL, instead of LHR. American Airlines flies to FCO, MXP, VCE, BLQ, at least on normal times, not sure if now they fly only to FCO.

Just for clarity, this is the requirement when landing in Italy. There is no quarantine when transiting through Heathrow.

I checked today’s flights.

AA flies non stop from DFW to Rome FCO. That’s the flight I would take.

AA also flies to FCO from JFK and PHL.

AA flies to Milan MXP non stop as well, but only from JFK.

Thank you so much Roberto! We are currently in the process of changing our flight with your recommendations.

Thank you again, everyone!
