Since I looked last spring, there's been a radical improvement in Italian weather radar coverage. Now you can tell if you need an umbrella for that walk to your next gelato. The radar map box linked below shows all of Europe and can be enlarged to a detail level useful for Italian metropolitan areas. It shows about a 2 hour history and a one hour forecast. Rain intensity sequence is Blue/Dark Blue /Green/Yellow/ Red/Purple:
