Where is the best place to purchase designer purses in Italy? Looking for Prada (in my dreams!), Gucci, or Fendi. I want the real thing, not knock offs. I will be in both Rome and Florence.
In Rome, just go to the GUCCI shop.
For Price, ebay or the guy on 47th street that sells them out of a box. I think the box may also be his home...Oh you said no knok-offs!
The designer shops are all over, there are outelts near Florence, but expect high prices.
The Prada outlet is just outside of Florence, otherwise just head toward Via Condotti in Rome, leading straight to the Spanish Steps and you will find all the designer stores you are looking for. Just be prepared to pony up some major cash, especially with the dollar worth so little.
If your looking for a good deal, you're better off just buying it in the U.S., the exchange rate makes those high prices even more outrageous.
Florence has a lot of high quality leather made my small, private shops, perhaps that might be a better investment.
Why would you want to buy a designer purse in Italy with the dollar so high? You will get a better deal on that purse here in Macy's, Bloomingdales or any nice department store. Don't be foolish and buy your purse in Italy just because it's Italy. Those are the same purses that are sold here.
But if you are going to buy a purse in Italy... don't buy the label - go for the quality as Vanessa says. The leather and workmanship here are incredible and the purses are magnificent.
So don't get hung up on a label, you can get THOSE purses anywhere (and probably for LESS money) but handcrafted Italian leather with creative designs... bellisima!
I have a tiny Ferla coin purse bought in Siena. I priced it back here in Australia and it was double the price. We Aussies have had dreadful exchange rates for ever, but we don't fuss. We just think how very lucky we are that we can scrape the money together for the long and expensive flight, and the holiday. The memories and friends made make all else fade.
