Departure time for 10 Day Italy trip

What time should we plan to depart from Rome at the end of the 10 Day Venice/Florence/Rome tour?

Anytime the next day or stay in Italy longer to tour independently.
Go with whatever you can afford

The tour ends after breakfast in the last hotel. The guide will probably put up a sign-up sheet for people who want to share taxis or other transportation to the airport. You shouldn't have trouble making an afternoon flight if you can tear yourself away from the Eternal City. If you have a morning flight, you can say your goodbyes the night before, get up early, and skip breakfast if you have to. There's no "substance" to the tour after the farewell dinner.

All the tours end after breakfast on that last day. A few people will have left before breakfast if they have early morning flights.
There are no planned activities. As said above, if you can stay longer in Italy, either in Rome or another location, it's a nice idea.
I like to amortize the airfare over more days so I stay longer, and arrive earlier, whenever I can.

Most direct flights to the US depart close to noon and later. You will have an earlier departure if connecting somewhere else in Europe for your flight home. Personally I would stay a couple of extra days. Ask the hotel for an extension on your stay. We tend to come as much as a week early and make the jet lag adjustment on our own time and not the tour's time. After the tour we like a couple of days just to relax and unwind from the tour schedule. And, maybe see somethings we missed earlier.
