Departing Naples Airport to Frankfurt at 6:00am - how to get there?

We are arriving in Naples from Sorrento the day before our departure. Our plane leaves at 6:00am. We need advice on where to stay (safe area) and how to get transportation to the airports at (I assume) 4:00am. I understand staying at the two hotels very near and walking is not a good idea.
We would sure appreciate any suggestions anyone may have!

I am also leaving at 6 am from Naples to Frankfurt and just booked a hotel near the train station and airport since I will be coming from Sorrento by train. I am sure that the hotel will help get a taxi directly to the airport and will know what time to leave. Just arrange it with the hotel staff the night before and you should be good to go.

Did you find a hotel in an area you consider safe? I have also read on other sites that getting transportation at 3:30 am could be an issue (no one works at that hour). Did you find transportation available at that time. Thanks Robin.

A few years ago we stayed in the closest Mercure hotel to the airport and taxied to the airport. IIRC, the ride wasn't a lot of euro; the hotel was safe, pleasant and not too pricey but I wouldn't have gone for a night time
stroll.

You won't have any trouble getting a cab at that hour; however, you also won't have any trouble finding a cab who will try and rip you off as well. The Naples airport is very close to downtown, but my driver at 4:30 AM took my on the scenic route, and racking up a huge cab fare. I was so tired I wasn't prepared to argue with him. The hotel called the cab. I stayed at a hotel near the train station, and while alot of Americans are afraid of the area, I really enjoyed the convenience and surprisingly, the peace and quiet.

Four o'clock might be a tad tight to make a departure, so you might want to get closer to the airport than the train station. But, there's always plenty of cabs at the Centrale Station at all hours. There's nothing wrong with that area, in fact, it's pretty interesting. In Naples we usually stay at the Mercure which is at the end of a dead-end street that runs south off of Girabaldi - - that would make it less than a ten minute walk to the train station, or the hotel would probably get a taxi down there for you - - that'd make it about a fifteen minute run to the airport. I have no recommendation for a hotel right at the ariport.
