Hello! And many thanks to everyone who has already provided so many wonderful travel tips. I have tried to answer this by putting together answers from different questions, but still am unsure.
My husband and I will be in Rome with a group for the Jubilee, leaving to return home on February 24. The rest of the group has a noon departure from FCO to New York on Delta, we have an 11am departure from FCO to Munich on Lufthansa, continuing on to San Francisco. If I understand correctly we should need to be at the airport at the same time, with them arriving three hours in advance at 9am and us arriving 2 hours in advance at 9am.
However, we are very likely to be in different terminals. We are in Terminal 1, they are probably in Terminal 3. The tour is set up around the main group. If they are dropped at Terminal 3 at 9, it seems to be a 5-10 minute walk to Terminal 1 for us? Or we could have the bus driver drive us, not sure which is faster?
Even if we are a few minutes under the recommended two hours, that seems better than the other alternative. That would be taking our own taxi from Rome that morning 10 or 15 minutes before the group. And I know Rome is going to be extra crazy with the Jubilee.
Thanks,
Gina
P.S. And yes, sadly, we are checking luggage. Tried to do carryon only, but not this trip.
