Delta airfare drop

heads up for anyone thinking of Italy....our $918 covid tested Sept open jaw flight flying into Venice and out of Rome just dropped to $527. Of course we feel bad but have always done well with flights before. I hope someone can take advantage of this.

If you didn’t book basic economy you can go on Delta app or delta dot com and modify flight….get e-credit. I did this last night, got $700

On delta or delta app - my trips - modify flight.

It will tell you the price and you can see what your credit would be before you commit to the changes.

I was just going to say that- most airlines have really relaxed their cancel/change rules... this year at least.

And there is now no need for a specific "COVID tested" flight.

Thanks Christine! I have been wondering about this....

I was thinking had to get a refund and then rebook which seemed a bit risky. But modifying does not!

BethFL- I have modified my United flights twice. (Just to change dates but did get small refund of Future Flight Credit each time)

I saw that too. Few days ago I was looking at the app and was able to upgrade to delta one to Venice at the end of September for our trip for $125 for my wife and I. I was shocked!!

Tried modifying this morning but got message that system is not working and to call Delta if persists (yeah, right). I tried several times and got the same message. I had a lot of trouble booking tickets too so their system is not robust right now.

Theoretically, I would save almost $300 on three tickets so a huge difference. $660 now versus $975 a month ago.

Hopefully, it will work before price changes!

Beth, Just get back on the phone...No kiddding I was on the phone last night over 4 1/2 hours waiting on Delta to connet with an agent. Very well worth it....our Sept $918 ticket was dropped to $527. I had 3 tickets and received a credit of $390 for each. Sooo Greatful!

Jo-

I will do that! I didn't know it was even possible to get through.

Interestingly enough, the tickets my daughter and husband bought from Atlanta to Rome and back from Venice have not dropped. They are not flying to Milan which tends to be cheaper.

Be patient but persistent when calling Delta. Saturday, I was on hold for 7 hours. I placed my phone on speaker and did other things while waiting.

I called Delta at 7:00 this morning and got an agent at 9:45. Needed to do some seat adjustments that I couldn’t do online (aircraft change since the original booking, so now a Comfort+ section is available on our outbound flight; it wasn’t when we booked.). Not terrible on the wait — I just put my phone on speaker and carried on. The agent was helpful and very polite.

When I logged in yesterday, I got excited when I initially saw that our already-booked flights had come down in price; thought I would get a credit. But when I clicked through, the return flight we are on is sold out for our class and all other return options have rotten itineraries. So check carefully if you are considering a modification!

I was told by Delta that I needed to modify my flight. So, the dates or times needed to be changed. Unfortunately, I am not willing to do that for the lower fare.
