Decugnano dei Barbi -- cooking class

Group of four of us really want to do this cooking class/tour. Has anyone done this or have any idea how much a taxi might be (rough guess) from Orvieto to Decugnano dei Barbi? Thank you!

Rome2Rio.com always seems willing to give a taxi-cost estimate for any origin/destination pair. I have no idea how accurate those are, how willing drivers are to make one-way trips out into the country, or how easy it would be to arrange for your return trip. That said, the estimated cost is a shockingly low 15 - 19 euros from the heart of the old town (looks as if it might be less from the train station below the other end of town). The distance is less than 15 km. (under 10 miles), so that may be a decent guess.

To increase your comfort level, you might poke around online and see whether you can find an email address for the Orvieto tourist office. I imagine they've fielded this question, or a similar one, before.

According to their website, if you contact them, they will arrange taxi service.

Thank you. I did contact them, and they estimated the taxi to be 45 euro each way.

Shelley, I was booked with Decugnano also (my 'landlady" told me this was a great winery when I asked her about transportation) - however they had to cancel because the chef won an award and will be in France during our time in late Sept. The reason I mention this, is that I then looked into renting a car - I was able to secure a Hertz car rental for three days, one way from Orvieto to Rome for under $100. So instead of $90 for the taxi I am paying $10 more and getting a car for three days! Weird thing is, to return the car to Orvieto was going to cost almost double, (plus the train fare to Rome, our next stop), so this seemed like a better deal.

We ended up booking a different class, Velia's Cooking Style, in a different location of course, but will still use the car to get there.

Have fun cooking!
