December in Lake Como Lugano

I am planning to go for a day trip to Lugano and Lake Como in the first week of Decmber

I am unable to decide my itinerary for the trip.

One, I am looking for a simpler trip to go to Lugano, Mendrisio, and Como and then back to Milan.

On the other side I am tempted to see Varenna, Bellagio, Mennagio, Lugano, Mendrisio and Como too.

I am very confused with regards to weather and will it be worth a visit at that time of the year.

Please advise.

You could skip Mendrisio, that has just a couple of small museums and a few churches. If you do the trip including Menaggio you probably need a car, and if you want to include Varenna you will need to use ferries as well. The complete trip is probably too long for a winter day as by 5.30pm it will be dark.

As for the weather, you cannot really tell. I often had day trips to Lugano in December and if the weather is good it is quite pleasant place - it won't be hot but it won't be bitterly cold either. But if you come in the wrong moment you can find snow.

Thank you for your reply.

I wanted to go to Mendrisio for FoxTown.

So its better I go for Lugano, Mendrisio and Como town only as it would be too long for a day.

Thank you for yr reply.
