December 2023 - Rome Accommodations

My wife and I are traveling to Rome in December 2023 for 8 nights. Plan to spend the entire time in Rome. I've never been, my wife was last in Rome 20+ years ago. We're experienced travelers and have been to Europe 10+ times. We have stayed in hotels and in apartments (Paris & Barcelona).

As this is my first time in Rome, I'm torn between staying in a hotel or an apartment.

We've narrowed our choices down to one hotel and one AirBnB apartment as linked to below:

Anyone have any suggestions/preference for either? They're both in the same general location. The apartment is slightly less expensive for the 8 nights, but obviously doesn't include a full breakfast.

Both look like great accommodation but I have a feeling that for winter the hotel may be more comfortable and cosier.

For an 8 night stay, the apartment will give you much more room. Bedroom & sitting room.

The hotel rooms are VERY small 17-21m.

If you’re worried about breakfast foods, there are 2 mini markets,and a Coop & a Carfore markets near by.

Markets. grocery stores near piazza narvona rome. google, map will be shown.

Not concerned about the breakfast foods, I was just looking to point out one of the obvious differences between the accommodations.

It is a very clever looking apartment in a lovely location. Our preference for longer stays is always an apartment even if our food prep is minimal. That it has a Nespresso is a terrific positive in my view. We spent 9 nights in December in Rome before we even moved there (lived there for almost 5 years) and it was really enjoyable having space to spread out.

The only thing I look for in an apartment that this one does not have is a washing machine. Might not matter to you and there is a laundry service in Campo de’ Fiori.
