Thinking if taking grand daughter to Italy for 3 to 4 days. Short trip. Weather?
From a Chicago weather perspective and having been there 3 times in the winter the weather is pretty mild in Italy. High 50's lows in the 30's as far north as Florence. Just stay in one city 3 or 4 days.
Whereabouts in Italy? It ranges from quite arid areas in the south to the lakes and mountains in the north, the weather differs considerably. It's like asking what the weather is in the US in December.
Diane, not to burst your hopes, but it takes a day or two just to acclimate to the significant time change coming from usa. Where will you be coming from and what do you want to see? If I only had a short period of time to get a feel for Italy, I would go to Rome for the 3 or 4 days, depending on the time of year. I always tell people you need at least 7-10 days to get a feel for Italy. If you are going during the winter, places will close earlier than the summer months and you will have less light.
Think of this question in terms of someone coming into the Eastern part of the use for 3-4 days. What would you recommend?
