Will be in Freiburg fr Dec 11-15; want to spend remainder of time Italy DEc 15 - 21, must leave from Frankfurt on Dec 23. Want to see Venice, Verona, possbily Florence and the Adriatic Sea (from anywhere). Please advise...i know i need to get hotel res soon! thanks

Did you mean Frebourg area of France? You did not mention type of travel - train vs. car. In any event, you are planning to cover a lot of territory! If you main focus is Italy, then I would suggest Venice and Florence before traveling on to Germany perhaps with a stop in Munich or Nurnberg before flying home from Frankfurt.

We will travel by train. Thought about a car, but a little freaked out by driving in a foreign land - since it is my first time to Europe. We start in Freiburg, Germany as that is where i meet up with my college student ending her semester abroad; she is eager to travel to Italy with us. Thanks for your reply. All suggestions and ideas welcome!

Since you have only 6 days in Italy, you should pick one area: Florence (with a couple of daytrips to Tuscan towns if you're interested); or Venice and the Adriatic Sea with a daytrip to Verona.
