Dealing with Nexi (Bargello combo ticket)

Does anyone know the secret code needed to make a purchase through Nexi?

I have tried purchasing the newish 72-hour combo Bargello/Accademia (Florence) ticket using Chrome and Firefox, with and without a VPN, and using a Mastercard and a Visa. I've also tried using Norton's VPN to supply an Italian address. All transactions have been rejected. (After the first failed transaction, I called my bank--no charge was presented to it.)

After several failures, I called the number supplied by the Bargello. The agent sent me a link to try a different site, but that site just connected to Nexi, with the same non-results.

I also tried booking only the Galleria dell' Accademia, since it is the only one of the 6 venues covered by the pass for which advance booking is really needed. Same dismal results.

I did have one previous experience with Nexi, when booking a hotel in Rome. In that case, after multiple failures I called the hotel directly and completed the transaction by bypassing Nexi.

Since major sites use Nexi, there must be some way to make it work....

Thank you for any advice!

Thank you for your suggestion. I just looked at that support page. It didn't show a FAQ response for my question, but does have a box for entering a request for help. I'll try that next.

In the interim, I installed Google Wallet, in case 3d secure support (which G-Wallet has) was needed by Nexi. All this is new to me, though, and I couldn't quickly figure out how to use the wallet on the Nexi website.

I'll try the support page.

I have now requested help from the support page, but since it's now past business hours in Florence, I doubt anything more will happen today. I'll post anything I learn.

Thanks again.

Thank you both for your advice and your crossed fingers. I'm not sure which did the trick, but I now have tickets for the Accademia.

In case others are having problems with Nexi, this is what worked. I used the support chat button on the page Kate referenced (https://help.orbitalcultura.com/hc/en-gb) to request assistance. This resulted in an email directing me to https://www.beculture.it/en/#. (Now that I know BeCulture is the magic site, I see that it has a link on the orbitalcultura page.)

I didn't fully explore the BeCulture website, but it looks like an umbrella organization for many of the museums in Florence and elsewhere in Italy. It is not a reseller; its price was the same as on the official site. It accepts PayPal, so no struggles with Nexi and U.S. banks!

One warning: after I'd gone through the PayPal transaction routine, the BeCulture page reported a loading error for its confirmation. I put through the transaction a second time. Others to whom this happens should wait a few minutes and check for an email confirmation before putting the payment through again. I've now two sets of tickets for the same people at the same time and date. (I've requested cancellation of the second transaction, but even if that isn't possible, I'll happily donate it to the museum just to be done with a process that consumed far too many hours today!)

In any case, BeCulture looks good for solving ticketing problems with Nexi.

Kate--Grazie mille!

A million thanks for sharing your solution! I've been struggling with the Nexi system for literally hours! It still took a while on the BeCulture website but in the end I was successful. Thanks for the PayPal tip as well. Phew!

Web and online technology is great, except when it doesn’t work, and then it’s frustrating to get tickets that shouldn’t seem to be so hard. Glad you had the patience and wherewithal to make things work. Happy travels in Florence!

Glad it worked for you too, Ruth.

At some point in my life I seem to recall hearing that innovations would make life smoother and easier for everybody. Guess either my memory or hearing is at fault.

One more note for others: I've read that Nexi (as well as other EU financial institutions) uses 3D Secure, and that is not yet common in the U.S. Some U.S. banks do have it. (I know that PNC Bank does.)
