Daytrip suggestions from Orvieto?

We are planning an upcoming trip to Italy that includes 3 nights (3 1/2 days) in Orvieto. Upon arriving from Rome we will pick up a car in Orvieto. Would anyone have any suggestions for daytrips from Orvieto that are no more than 1 (more or less) hours driving time (one way) from Orvieto? We would like to go to Civita di Bagnoregio and beyond that we're not sure. We travel by car to an agriturismo just outside of Siena after our time in Orvieto and will be seeing San Gimignano on one of our days there. Thanks! PS Time frame is late March, arriving in Orvieto on a Saturday)

Assisi is about an hour and a half away and Deruta is on the way there.

Assisi is very beautiful as you can see from some pictures we took there in May 2008, but the challenge about going there as a daytrip is that thousands of other people do the same thing. That said, the Rick Steves Assisi walk is very interesting and well worth the trouble.

I also like Assisi but id suggest staying 2 nights in Orvieto and one night in Assisi. Assisi during the day is a zoo and at night a wonderful place.

I agree with Jack about Assisi. The little town of Trevi is not far by car from Orvieto or Assisi.

Thanks for your suggestions. Right now, I'm investigating several gardens near Viterbo or La Foce's gardens north of Orvieto.
