Hello,
Myself and 3 others are staying in Pompeii next month and was thinking of doing a day trip to Rome but I'm having trouble finding a tour operator that do the trips. I can find plenty doing trips to Pompeii from Rome but not the other way round, can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
Suzy
Take the local train, Circumvesuviana to Naples, then train from Naples to Rome. If you want a guide in Rome, arrange in advance hire one there to meet you at Rome Termini station.
It's about 150 miles from Naples to Rome Termini. That would make for a long, long day trip. If you want to see Rome, take more time and see it right. It's worthy of a minimum 4 day stay.
Even with an early start and a late return it will be a looooong day. And you'll have a lot less time in Rome than you think you will. Rome merits three full days at a minimum and five would be better. Suggest you save Rome for another trip. Don't mean to spoil your plans, just trying to be realistic.
Thank you for your replies, it's very much appreciated. I think I will take your advise and save it for another trip so that I can see everything, any excuse to go back haha.
