Day trips out of Rome

I was recently in Rome and took many day trips from there, and they were all great. Next time I go to Rome I want to see Siena. I was wondering if that can be a day trip, if so, what is the best way to achieve that. Also, if it isn't, any recommendations for where to stay in Sienna, and activities there? Thank

Siena (only one 'n') would be a difficult place to enjoy on a day trip from Rome. It would take you a few hours on the train in each direction. And Siena is wonderfully different during the day and at night. The Duomo and Baptistery are very beautiful - even the floor of the Duomo! The attached Duomo museum is very special and worthwhile. There is also another museum on the same piazza - directly across from the church. There are some beautiful art works inside as well as interesting history. Meandering around the medieval city, with all of its various and distinct neighborhoods, I found time well spent. And, of course, there is the Tuscan food!

It's best that you make a 2 nights getaway to Siena. It's worth staying there 2 nights. You can also visit Lucca from Siena. Dana next time you go to Italy. Fly into Florence or Pisa then go straight to Siena from there. After spending a few nights in Siena, take the train to Rome and fly out of Rome.

Here is a good accommodation of where to stay in Siena:
