Day trips out of Florence

We currently are booked with a company to do a tour to San Gimignano and a wine tasting. However, I have been unable to contact this person all week to make a final confirmation as to our plans. Sent an e-mail this morning that unless I hear back from them in the next 24 hours that the booking will be cancelled. We leave Wednesday morning. Does anyone have a recommendation for a company that they have used for this type of trip in case I have to scramble for something else before we leave?

Judy - I find that folks in Italy tend to be a bit more laid back about the whole confirmation thing. In addition they seem a more relaxed attitude about e-mail as well. Not every one checks every day. Maybe they are having computer problems. Maybe the only person who speaks English is gone. Or maybe they felt you were booked and there isn't anything further to do.

I have tried in the past to do a three pronged approach.

  1. email - with an Italian translation of your e-mail included. Use one of the free web based engines. It won't be perfect but will get your point across.

  2. FAX - Once again - English and Italian

  3. call - remember the time differential.

Include your fax number and voice number in all messages.

HI Judy, what is the name of the tour company? I took a tour with Accidental Tourist. They were fairly quick to confirm (you reserve online via their website)and they require you to call the day before to ensure your attendance (you pay at the end of the tour).
