Day trips near San Gimignano

We are arriving by train in Siena and getting a rental car for the next two weeks as we travel Italy from North to South. We have four days in Tuscany near San Gimignano at an agritourisssmo. One day will be for relaxation and visiting SG and Volterra. We have a car. What should we do for the other three?
Thoughts:
Day 1. Cinque Terre,
Day 2.Firenze,
Day 3.hill towns ( Chivita , Orvieto),

Any other thoughts would be most appreciated..
Thanks!

We enjoyed a nice walk thru the countryside and vineyards around San G.

Most people arrive in Florence and just rent a car there. You can be deep into Tuscany in 30 minutes. The train station in Siena is on the outskirts of town, and you'd need to take a taxi to the rental car place. Most take a bus to Siena into the center of town.
We enjoyed staying halfway between Certaldo and San Gimignano. Certaldo is another hill town that you can visit. We especially loved Volterra. Orvieto was another great hill town on our route to Rome--maybe 90 minutes below Siena.

Volterra, Monteriggioni, Panzano (the crazy butcher), even Pisa and the sea. Vinci is within striking distance.

Orvieto is wonderful; but, not in my opinion, a day trip. from SG. (Viamichelin shows more than 2 hours for the drive.) Therefore, the same would be true for Civita da Bagnoregio, which would be a waste of time even if it were just down the road. Have you considered Volterra or Lucca?

Thanks for the replies. I have two more questions...

Train from Rome airport to Termini -16-22 euros each...? All 2nd class tickets are sold out on the day we arrive. I am afraid to book the 1st class ones as I'm not sure when we get through customs etc. Is the express train to Rome always available, or should I buy ahead?

We are staying in Salerno. We want to go to Pompeii but the Pompeii rail station is not the one near the ruins ...how long of a walk is it or is there a bus between stations ?
Thanks
