We will be in Sicily for 7 nights during the second week of October (2 nights in Palermo, 2 nights in Taormina, and 3 nights in Siracusa). We have day trips as well as local sightseeing ideas for Palermo and Taormina, but are looking for suggestions for a day trip from Siracusa. Should we do Noto, Rigasu, or somewhere else? We have a reservation for a vineyard near Taormina, but would do another vineyard from Siracusa. We have a car and don’t mind driving for a few hours. Any ideas are most appreciated!
Imo you don’t really have time for day trips on this tight schedule. Siracusa is delightful, and the Archeological park + Museo Orsi is a day. If you indeed find the time, Noto is a good choice.
Thank you for your reply! Good information for us.
Of course, all depends on your arrival and departure points as well as your travel preferences. For us, one day/night in Ortigia was perfect. From there, we went on to Noto, Ragusa, Modica, Scicli, Villa Romano del Casale and Agrigento. With a car, any of these are options depending on your interests, overall route and final destination.
Noto is the most obvious day trip, but Ortigia is so nice you may just want to spend your time there. We stayed over a week without getting bored

Thank you! Can’t wait to experience this part of Italy.
We spent a week in Ortigia/Siracusa and canceled all of our planned day trips once we arrived there. We didn’t want to leave!
