We going to Rome in Feb and plan on spending a weekend in the Pompeii Area. Should we drive or train it? Should we stay in Sorrento, Pompeii, Positano? Any other suggestions on what to see down there? Any hotel recommendations?
Can anyone recommend other overnight stays from Rome (as our base)?

We have stayed at a couple hotels in Pompeii.
They are average at best. Restaurants in town
basically close when tour groups leave in late
afternoon. If going again, we would stay in Sorrento area as it is nicer and more tourist
friendly. I would definately go by train in
this area rather than drive.
Stay in Sorrento. It's lovely.
Orvieto is another posssible overnight stay you might want to look into.
