We are making a return trip to Montepulciano and would like some suggestions for day trips. We have been to: Florence, Lucca, Siena, Sovicille, Montalcino, Civita di Bagnoregio, and Orvieto. We will have a car so we won't be dependent on trains/buses. Please let us know what your favorites are!

How about an "Abbey Day?" Visit the Sant'Antimo Abbey (south of Montalcino) in the morning, lunch in or around San Quirico d'Orcia, followed by a trip to the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore in the afternoon.
