Can I get folks input on taking a day trip to the Dolomites from Venice? Logistics, length of time and overall opinion on quality of time spent?

During ski season, they do run buses to Cortina. Don't know about off season. Its about a 2 hour bus ride. Return to Venice around 1700 or 1800.

Here is the Mar 1 to June 14 ATVO bus schedule, only gives 4 1/2 in Cortina.
