We’re on day two of our honeymoon in Varenna, and it’s supposed to rain all day. We’re thinking of a day trip to Engadine Switzerland where the weather today will be lovely.
Can anyone advise the best way to get there (bus or train), or suggest alternate day trips?
When we leave here on Friday we’re heading up to Ortisei.

Debbie, This is a trip you should take regardless of the weather. You are luckily in the right place to take a trip on the very scenic Bernina route OVER the Alps.
Train Varenna to Tirano
Train Tirano, over the Bernina Pass to St Moritz (top end of Engadin valley)

Varenna-Esino dep 07:24, Tirano arr 08:52
Tirano dep 09:00, St. Moritz arr 11:11
Repeats every hour (08:24, 09:24, etc.)
There is also another route involving a bus which is not so scenic. You could come back this way:
Train Varenna-Esino to Colico, train Colico to Chiavenna, bus Chiavenna to St. Moritz
