Has anyone gone to the Dolomites from Venice on a tour? We were considering a private tour that would take us to Cortina as well as other areas. We thought that a cable car ride in Cortina would be exciting. Also a short hike in another area. We have 2 teenaged boys and thought they might enjoy this after 6 days of touring in Rome and Florence in the August heat. Has anyone used Venice Events tour company?
Any thoughts on the day trip to the Dolomites? Should we stick to Venice instead?

I would get more details regarding the travel time. I have travelled to the Dolomites by car and seem to remember spending at least 2 hours (one way) not including stops. If you are travelling on or around August 15th, expect long delays on the highway since that's when most Italians are on the move trying to get out of the city and onto their holiday destination.
