Day Trip to San Gimignano and Volterra from Florence

My husband and I will be returning to Florence for a few nights in May. We would like to take a day trip the San Gimignano and Volterra and the train or bus option is not convenient. Has anyone used a small group tour company or private driver that they would recommend?

Just rent a car for the day trip. The roads are a little crooked, but they're well paved and easily navigated. Tuscany is just one of those places where you can get so much more out of traveling by rental car. And the scenery is just stunning.
Our Hertz agent on Sansovino in Florence gave us directions to the main road going south of Florence that completely avoided the ZTL downtown. That location is about a 2 mile taxi ride from the train station.
San Gimignano, Volterra and Certaldo are a great day trip and not too far from Florence. We stopped in supermarkets in Poggibonsi to pickup our picnic supplies. We saved San Gimignano for the last stop late in the day so all the "tourists" would have been gone back to Florence.
