Day trip to Padua from Bassano del Grappa

Outline of two week small group trip already arranged for next year, flying into Venice and out of Milan. Now trying to sort out some of the detail. After Venice will be in Bassano del Grappa for 3 nights. I've never been to Padua and was hoping to do a day trip there from Bassano del Grappa (dont want to use up any of the days we have in Venice ..... can never get enough time in Venice). Have read that its an hour on a regional train from BdG to Padua, but can't see where the train station is in BdG on google maps, altho' it does seem to be on the Veneto regional train diagram. Am hopeless with the trenitalia website and dont seem to be getting anywhere in finding out information. Has anyone been to Bassano del Grappa who can give some idea of what to expect and if there is anything else in that immediate area that would be worth seeing?

The Station at Bassano del Grappa is at the following address: via Giacomo Chilesotti, 17 36061 Bassano del Grappa, VI It's at the intersection with Via De Blasi, very close to the historical centre. You can walk to it from the famous Ponte degli Alpini (Alpine soldiers' bridge) in 10 minutes. The timetable to Padua is below (about 1 hr journey): http://web.tiscali.it/cosmiko/OrariTreni/Bassano-Padova.htm
for the return trip click on: 'CONTROLLA GLI ORARI DI RITORNO' Doing Padua from Bassano is a good idea, because you have 3 days there and you'll run out of things to do in Bassano rather quickly.

You should do a quick trip to see Marostica just down the road from Bassano. There's also a world class winery in nearby Breganze called Maculan (One of my favorites in the Veneto) that does tours and tastings but probably hard to reach without a car. Vicenza makes a nice day trip as well.
