day trip to Milan

I'm thinking about taking a day trip from Florence to Milan (I'll still have 7 days left in Florence). My interest is in seeing the Milan Duomo, its Baptistr, and the Basilica of St Ambrose, possibly with a quick tour through the Brera gallery for a few selected works. The train schedule makes this look do-able. Do you agree? Any concerns? I originally had planned on staying overnight in Milan, but my timing the full day there would be on a Sunday... which is a problem at churches. So I'm considering going to Florence on that Sunday, and taking the train for a day in Milan in the middle of the week.

Doable. The Metro will get you to the Duomo. From there easy walks to St. Ambrose and the Brera Gallery. Milan is also home to Da Vinci's Last Supper. If you'd like to see that reserve your ticket in advance.

The best part of the Duomo is climbing around on the roof. And the Duomo and surroundings look completely different after dark and all lit up. Leave a half-hour to walk through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele - it is the prototype for all the others.

Perhaps, but is it worth changing hotels TWICE? And Sherry still has the same travel time back to Florence.

My last post makes no sense. I was responding to a previous post that has disappeared! Disregard.
