Hi! My family and I will be in Nice with a car the second week of July and are hoping to take a day trip into Italy. We have 3 children (ages 8-11) and are looking for suggestions. San Remo looks lovely but would appreciate any insights!

We're doing exactly the same only in August. I too was looking at San Remo but I'm just going to play it by ear, drive there and explore. Two boys aged 10 and 12 who both adore being dragged around old towns particularly in 35c heat so I suspect much bribing with gelato will take place.
Also looking at exploring the more mountainous area of Provence, currently reading the Lonely Planet guide to Provence and there are some good suggestions there (if you're an Amazon Prime member you can download it to a Kindle app for free)
