Day Trip to Florence Recommendations

Hi All,

We are planning to take the early train out to Florence from Rome for the day and would love help making a short 1 day itinerary. We are young and willing to see a lot so we would love any suggestions on Must-See things while in town. We are interested in visiting Uffizi or Accademia (would love a preference), seeing the Duomo, and would love a few restaurant suggestions for florentine steak for dinner! If anyone has done a day trip and has a good itinerary please share! Thank you

Wow, very ambitious!
With everything you want to do, I would skip the Uffizi. There is just too much there to see and you'll be rushed and frustrated. Take the train into Santa Maria Novella station. Book the Accademia to see David. Not sure if you have to book the Duomo. Go to Santa Croce to see all the famous tombs.Have a walk over the Ponte Vecchio to the Pitti Palace and perhaps see the gardens. Florence is tiny in the historic centre so you will be able to walk to things. Check out RS for a walking tour. I'm sure he's got a great one. The San Lorenzo Market is worth while.
Depending on time and how into art you are, you might check out the Corridoio Vasariano - a self-portrait gallery that goes along the Arno and OVER the top of the Ponte Vecchio. Covers many centuries and is delightful.
The important thing is to get any reservations you need so you don't waste time in lines or are disappointed as there is no space.
Enjoy!

Accademia is pretty small but Uffizi is pretty big. I think if you get there early enough you can see them both and also go up the Duomo. Just make sure you buy the tickets online. Also walk the Duomo area and Piazza della Signoria area.

I had the Florentine steak at Ristorante Il Caminetto.
