Hello, we're considering a day trip from Venice to Belluno. There doesn't seem a whole lot of distinction to see but I thought I'd ask Rick Steves' travelers if they found the town interesting enough for a short trip. Good places to eat, things to see? We're not hikers so won't be going to the Dolomites.

Belluno is an attractive town with its mountain backdrop and beautiful arcades, but really, the main attraction is the Dolomites - only a few km away.
Have you been to Bassano del Grappa already? It would be a better choice, in my opinion.

Or Padua for a place with significant sightseeing attractions.

Thank you to the folks who responded to my question about Belluno. I haven't been to Bassano del Grappa so will do some research on it. Padua is a possibility too. We'll be taking the train from Venice for the day trip so that's a consideration too.
