Day Trip Suggestions from Forte Dei Marmi

I will be based in Forte Dei Marmi for a few days at the end of September and am looking for suggestions for day trips. I am willing to drive 3-4 hours to get to a location of interest. My "high priority" list includes Lucca, Pisa Siena, Volterra, Montepuliciano or Montalcino, and Pitigliano, and would like information about what towns I can visit on the same day. Suggestions for other towns/parks/etc. appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Since you only have 'a few days', some of your destinations are too far away - Volterra, Siena, Pitigliano, Montepulciano each will take most or all of a day. Some nearer attractions: Carrara marble quarries and Carrara Duomo & old town; Lerici on the Gulf of the Poets; Viareggio on a nice day (and Torre del Lago if Puccini is of interest); Portovenere and Palmaria Island. As an aside, the current Netflix movie 'Security' takes place in Forte dei Marmi.

You will be very close to Pietrasanta. As befits a town so close to Carrara, it is full of sculpture in public places. There is a small sculpture museum, as well. We enjoyed walking around, viewing the many art works.
Viareggio is also nearby. While a fire destroyed a lot of the Art Nouveau buildings, there are a number left, which give a flavor of its past.

@Rosalyn Fire in Viareggio? Can you cite a source? The art nouveau buildings are generally well separated, so it would take an epic fire to damage more than a couple. There was a large fire in 2009 around the railroad station due to train collision but that was far from the lungomare.

@Rosalyn Thanks, we visit often and had never heard of it. One reference I found suggested that recovery from the fire was one stimulus for the blossoming of Liberty Style (Art Nouveau) in Viareggio.

I appreciate all the suggestions. It helped me with my plans.

I will also be in Venice. I would like suggestions for reputable Murano glass and Burano lace crafters and sellers. Also restaurants that are pescatarian and vegetarian friendly.

Thanks again in advance.
