We will be in La Villa in the Dolomites for 2 nights coming from Venice in September. We are interested in seeing the Alpe Di Siusi. Is that doable as a day trip? Or any other suggestions.
Yes you can. It's about 1 hr drive.
Also visit the Val Gardena (Ortisei and Selva), and surrounding areas, very close to La Villa.
In addition drive through the Pordoi pass (Passo Pordoi) and the Sella Pass (toward Canazei). Enjoy the views and take the gondolas up if you like.
Aquila is an hour or so south and is gorgeous, 5th century church, mosaics, archeologists still digging in the fields to uncover more of the village. UNESCO heritage site.
L'Aquila is south of the Dolomites, in Abruzzo, and nowhere close to the Dolomites. It will take you one hour if you own a personal jet.
Aquileia is not south, but East of the Dolomites, near Trieste and quite a detour from the Dolomites. It is almost 3 hours from Cortina and about 3.5 hours from La Villa.
So not sure what you are talking about.
Thanks for the answers. I was starting to question my maps!
