Hi. We are planning a day trip from Venice to Trieste in mid-November. Any suggestions on restaurants? We would probably like to try one that specializes in eastern European food or seafood (lunch) since the rest of our trip will have plenty of Italian food. Has anyone ever visited the concentration camp there? What about the huge cave? Thanks in advance.

Trieste is nice --a series of facelifts in recent years-- but would strongly suggest Udine instead. About the same time/distance away, and a beautiful city. And the food --a mix of Italian/Austrian/Slovenian/Alpine-- is fantastic! And don't let me get started on the amazing wines...
