Day trip from San Casciano in Val di Pesa

My husband and I will be visiting San Casciano in Val di Pesa in September of this year. We will be there for 5 nights and be renting a car. We are looking for ideas for day trips. Our interests are wine tasting of local vineyards (small family type, no large commercial)...maybe something where you can have a meal there, too, paired with the wines. Maybe olive oil, cool little towns and village, scenic drives with spots to pull off for impromptu picnic, wine festivals, We are not necessarily into touring lots of churches,etc....we did that on our first trip. Any help is much appreciated.

In order of popularity:

Florence
Siena
Chianti Hills (Greve, Castellina, Panzano, etc.)
San Gimignano
Volterra
Monteriggioni
Certaldo
Colle Val D'Elsa

The Val D'Orcia area aslo is not too far (Pienza, Buonconvento, Montalcino, Montepulciano, San Quirico, Monticchiello, Bagno Vignoni)
More ideas available here:

Some of the cities in the above website (all devoted to Tuscany) may be a bit far, so plot them on a map before driving there.

Thanks so much for this reply.

We are contemplating spending one day exploring the countryside and traveling to Volterra and San Gimignano and then circling back up on the main road (SR2?)

We are thinking another day do Sienna and that area.

On Friday maybe do the Panzano wine festival and then dinner at Castello di Verrazzano.

The other day maybe go to Villa di Corti for lunch.

If anyone has any experiences or opinions about this plan that they'd like to share, we'd love to hear from you.
