Hello all ... I will be visiting Rome May, 2024 with my husband and 2 friends (spritely 62year olds). Looking at a day trip to Herculaneum and Montecassino. Appreciate your opinions if you think this is a doable day trip from Rome? (we are looking at Stefano rome tours for our transport there and back)

I can't imagine doing Herculaneum and Montecassino in one day! Getting to and from Herculaneum will take most of the day. Montecassino would be more "doable" from Rome. They are both worthy of your time - but not on the same day.
This June we are headed to Herculaneum from Rome along with doing the Archeological Museum in Naples. Planning on taking the train and it being a full day. I will let you know how it went when we get back.
Thankyou both for your advice. yes, I thought it may be too rushed in one day

Paula - We went to both places in April 2022. If I had to pick, I would go with Herculaneum. It will be a long day from Rome, but if that is your only option I say do it.
Thanks "Estimated Prophet"
