Day trip from Rome - Ferrari Museum.

Thinking of getting up early and going by train up to see the Ferrari and Enzo Ferrari museums. Any thoughts on this, good idea bad idea?

If that's what you want to do. Trenitalia has a same day return ticket available for 79 EUR from Rome Termini to Bologna Centrale. Frequent trains, but I notice that weekday there is a 6:50 am Frecciarossa that is nonstop to Bologna in 2 hours, and a return Frecciarossa nonstop at 7:07 pm. From Bologna travel by regional train to Sassuolo Quattroponti then a taxi to the Ferrari Museum in Maranello. Then taxi back to Sassuolo Quattroponti and a regional train back to Modena. The Enzo Ferrari Museum is walking distance from Modena station. Finally, regional train back to Bologna to catch your train back to Rome.

As best I can tell you would have 7 hrs of 'traveling' time, excluding the time to get to/from Termini.

Not what I would call a good idea.

Its your choice of how to spend your time

hey hey afeas
not a good idea to me. too much train time. find a budget hotel and spend night to enjoy but keep your rome place.
we were in florence, friend's first time to europe, wanted to see venice. left early had rest of that day and next day to roam around till early evening train back. had lunch and dinner, saw a lot, next day lunch then train back. so much fun and relaxing.
you can see museums, dinner people watch next day bologna lunch then back. you won't regret it.
