Day trip from Rome

We end are rs tour on a saturday morning in Rome and would like to find a day trip for that day since we don’t leave until Sunday the next day. Any ideas would be appreciated
We are on the Best of Rome tour April 7th - 13th

Orvieto is an easy day trip

Or you might consider just spending that day in Rome as the RS tours don’t usually include enough time in Rome (unless you are on the Best of Rome tour)

If the tour doesn't go to Ostia Antica, then that's a good choice. Easy and quick to get there on public transit, not usually crowded, and you'll be back in Rome in plenty of time to have dinner and do your final packing.

I second going to Ostia Antica. It's an easy train ride and, on the way back, you can visit the Testaccio neighborhood. You can see the only pyramid in Rome there and pay your respects at the Cimitero Acattolico where Shelly and Keats are buried.

Knowing which RS tour and what time of year or the exact Saturday, would make responding more relevant. So would knowing how many "we" are and their ages.

This is a link to options for Rome that might be helpful: https://www.ricksteves.com/europe/italy/rome. It does reinforce the previous reponses.

I've been to Rome a few times (IMHO not nearly enough) and one of the favorite things I've ever done is to go on a private Scooteroma tour of street art on the back of a Vespa. It was specifically designed for me and pricey but worth every €. This link about the tour I took can get you to the others: https://scooteroma.com/tours/street-art-vespa-tour/

I was 71 at the time, weighed 200 pounds, learned a lot and had a blast. Before booking I made sure that my travel insurance would cover me if needed. If you're iffy about riding on the back of a Vespa, this is a link to a more sedate vehicle, an Ape Calessino: https://scooteroma.com/tours/ape-calessino-tour/

Regardless of vehicle, "we can adapt the itinerary to your needs and wishes" like they did for me. I'm now 78, 150 pounds and would probably do this new Vespa tour if I could: https://scooteroma.com/tours/double-street-vespa-tour/

This new Countryside Vespa Tour also sounds attractive and could easily qualify as a daytrip: https://scooteroma.com/tours/countryside-vespa-tour/

Rhonda, how long does your RS tour spend in Rome? If it's only a day or two, there is SO much more to see that I wouldn't spend your last day elsewhere. ????

I would also agree with the recommendation for heading to Ostia Antica. It’s an easy day trip from Rome and it’s so well worth it. You get to see some incredible ruins that have been standing for thousands of years in a beautiful setting. Bring a picnic lunch and sit in the grass and enjoy it. It really is a wonderful outing.
