Day Trip from Rome

5 nights=4 days which are easy to fill. Perhaps you have been to Rome before. If so, then take a day trip to Tivoli Gardens outside of the city. I love Naples but not as a day trip, too much to see.

Naples is a great city and can be done as a day trip from Rome if you have a focus. I have done it to see Herculaneum and the archeological museum, eat a great meal and head back to Rome for a late night walk around town or early enough for a dinner.

If not interested in seeing archeological site, see museum , San Severo and other sights listed in RS book. 1.5 hour fast train between cities makes this possible.

I also agree that Tivoli sights are a good day trip as well! If you want to escape the city!

I think Naples makes a very good day trip, if you are focused with a sightseeing plan. The Archeology Museum and the Capella Sansevero would be my two personal must-sees, but do what interests you.

We have just spent 4 1/2 days in Rome and are doing a day trip to Orvieto tomorrow. I think, for us, Napoli is too far for a day trip.
